Smart film for practices and care

Published on · Privé Glas

In a practice you want bright, open rooms, but during a consultation or treatment privacy matters. Smart film makes glass doors, walls and windows switchable: clear when possible, frosted when a patient or client is in the room.

Privacy and daylight at the same time

Many practices have glass doors or interior walls to bring light deeper into the building, or windows facing the street or a waiting room. That feels open and pleasant, but it also means everyone can look in.

Smart film solves that without taking the light away. Without power the film is frosted, with a milky-glass effect: daylight comes in, but the view is blurred. With power the film turns clear, with 92% transparency.

Which practices?

Smart film is used in a wide range of practices:

  • GPs: a consulting room with a glass door or window to the corridor or waiting room.
  • Dentists: treatment rooms with glass walls that feel open but can be screened off.
  • Physiotherapists: exercise and treatment rooms with large windows.
  • Therapists and psychologists: consultation rooms where discretion comes first.
  • Beauty salons: treatment cabins behind glass or street-facing windows.

Frosting the glass during the consultation

The big advantage: you decide when the glass is frosted. At the start of a consultation or treatment you switch the film to frosted via the app or remote control. After the appointment the glass turns clear again and the room feels open.

The Wi-Fi transformer also works with Google Home and Alexa, so you can switch the film with a voice command or include it in routines, for example when opening and closing the practice.

Glass doors and walls in the practice

Smart film is made to the exact size of your existing glass: a glass door, an interior wall or a window. So you do not need to replace the glass. Read more about doors in our article smart film on a glass door.

Because the film goes on the existing glass, a practice that later moves or renovates can have it removed again: smart film is guaranteed to come off without residue.

A calm look without extra elements

Blinds or curtains in a treatment room need maintenance and look busier. With smart film the glass itself is the only element: no rails, no cassette, no dust in folds. Clean the film according to the manual.

How to clean smart film correctly is explained in cleaning and maintaining smart film.

What does it cost for a practice?

Smart film costs €179 per m² excl. VAT, plus a one-time €149.99 excl. VAT for the transformer with Wi-Fi app. The film is made to measure, delivered tested and comes with a 4-year warranty. It blocks up to 99% of UV radiation.

Installation

You can install the film yourself with the manual and installation video, use your own installer or choose Privé Glas's certified installers. Privé Glas always comes to install, anywhere in Belgium and the Netherlands; for longer distances travel costs are added and shown in the quote.

What to consider when choosing

First look at which glass surfaces really need privacy: the treatment room door, a glass wall to the waiting room or a street-facing window. It is often not necessary to cover all the glass; you choose the places where patients or clients do not want to feel watched.

Also think about who controls the film. In a busy practice it is handy if everyone on the team knows how the app or remote control works. With a routine via Google Home or Alexa you can, for example, switch all treatment rooms at once.
